AutoCAD 2002: The foundation for collaborative design.
AutoCAD 2002 supercharges your design process, unlocking the value of your design data at every step of the way. In fact, AutoCAD 2002 offers
Powerful design tools to enhance productivity and performance.
New ways to help you connect and collaborate with your design team—and extend the reach of your design data.
New tools to help you manage your corporate design standards.
Evolved deployment and integration features and advanced license management tools to help you use your Autodesk® software assets for a greater ROI.
Productivity and performance:
Associative Dimensioning saves time by automating the dimensioning process. When you modify geometry in drawings, the dimensions automatically adjust to the modified geometry.
Use the Block Attribute Manager to manage, extract, and modify attributes without having to explode or redefine the block.
The Edit Attribute dialog box makes it easier to edit the properties, text, and general appearance of each attribute.
The Enhanced Attribute Editor offers a faster, more accurate way of managing individually selected block attributes.
The Enhanced Attribute Extract tool allows the easy extraction of block attribute data to comma-separated text (CSV), Microsoft® Excel (XLS), and Microsoft Access (MDB) formats.
The Layer Translator converts drawings from one layer standard or convention to another using an existing drawing, standards file, or drawing template. You can save and reuse translation information for quicker conversion of future drawings.
Layer Previous improves UNDO, ZOOM, and Layer operations. It operates much like the Zoom Previous command and restores the previously used layer state without undoing geometry edits or zoom operations.
Text Scaling improves the readability of your plot output and reduces the number of manual adjustments necessary.
Enhanced spell checking now includes annotation objects, resulting in less rework and fewer review cycles.
Connect and collaborate:
Enhanced Publish to Web (now i-drop® enabled!) lets you display drawings for review by publishing them to the Web or your intranet. Publish to Web is simple to use and now includes templates and themes that increase the readability and appeal of the sites and help them adhere to your company’s look and feel, without time-consuming design and development.
Use Autodesk® i-drop technology to quickly add to your designs by dragging objects from the Web or your intranet and dropping them into your drawings.
Standards-aware eTransmit saves time and money by securely sending complete DWG files—including xrefs—via e-mail. The delivery is fast and virtually cost-free. eTransmit even includes the DWS standards file associated with the drawing, so everyone can use a single standard.
Host team-critical data and drawing files on the Bulletin Board in AutoCAD Today, accessible from inside AutoCAD.
Meet Now gives you a way to conference and collaborate in real time with colleagues and partners over the Internet or your intranet.
Using the File Navigation dialog box, you can collaborate, share, and store data via the Web.
With the new high-resolution DWF format, you not only get higher visual fidelity but also can plot DWF files with the same quality as native DWG. And DWF now supports additional raster image formats and offers various merge control refinements.
The Autodesk® Point A design portal brings you industry-specific news, downloadable design content, secure project hosting, tips and techniques, and more.
Use Autodesk® Project Point™ to manage your building projects more efficiently. With Project Point you can centralize all project documents and drawings in one secure online location and share updates and markups in real time.
The Autodesk® Plans & Specs™ system presents a revolutionary new way to manage, share and distribute print-ready drawings via the Web. Publish drawings directly to a digital plan room set up for you by your Plans & Specs reprographic host and grant specific parties access to their plans, allowing them to preview and order prints directly from the reprographer.
Use Autodesk® Construction Manager™ online workflow application to collaborate with project team members during the construction phase. Share RFIs, change requests, meeting minutes, and correspondence with your team, giving each party a private3 and secure view of only the documents assigned to them.
Manage your corporate design standards:
Effective Standards Management is vital to your organization. AutoCAD® 2002’s robust standards management tools make checking and adhering to drafting standards easy, whether you work from corporate or ANSI, ISO, DIN, or JIS industry standards.
DesignXML is a web-specific way to create and share design data. Now you can more easily add real-world intelligence to your designs and extend that intelligence to external business processes and applications.
Enhanced Attribute Extraction is a faster and more accurate way of managing individually selected block attributes.
Deployment and integration features and advanced license management tools
100 percent drawing file compatibility—The AutoCAD® DWG format remains unchanged from AutoCAD 2000 and AutoCAD 2000i, guaranteeing 100 percent DWG file compatibility and protecting your investment in AutoCAD files already in production.
Compatibility with scripts and custom applications—AutoCAD 2002 is backward compatible with most applications and scripts written for AutoCAD 2000/2000i. Almost all ARX, LISP, and VBA routines currently running on AutoCAD 2000/2000i will continue to run on AutoCAD 2002, preserving your existing application and configuration investments.
World-class license management: Maximize your software assets with the market leader. FLEXlm® and SAMreport-lite offer increased reliability and better support, while protecting your existing network license management capabilities.
The Windows environment: AutoCAD 2002 is built for the Microsoft® Windows® desktop environment, including Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows NT® 4.0
